This week we haul the Collett Ranch weaners down off of the mountain. We had to wait until the new loading chute was done. We may be in a drought cycle, but the mountain looks way better than last year. We have been getting some consistent rain for the last couple of weeks, at least as consistent as Owyhee County gets. The cows are fat and happy, the grass is trying to green up again and the temperature has been in the upper 70’s lower 80’s up there. Nothing but good.
Wanda our new pup is coming along well. She sure is a happy dog, always running and jumping and playing and dragging trash on to my yard, wait that last one doesn’t make me so happy, but it does make her happy.
This month has been a tough one for our whole family. Brian’s dad, Bob has been diagnosed with lung cancer. We knew all along that he probably had some kind of cancer, but when they tell you this out loud, no matter how prepared you think you are, it hits like a ton of bricks. Bob’s spirits are high though, no boo hooin’ here, live and laugh is our motto. His biggest concern??? That he time things for when the ground is not frozen. Cowboy humor for ya there
I did take Bob up the mountain the other day to see the new corrals. He just loves it up there and was very pleased with the results. When he and I came down that evening we stopped at the local café and ate dinner and had a couple of beers and just sat and talked. It was so nice.
Not everything in life is a fun and happy event, but then it would not be life. Remember no boo hooin’, live and laugh.
Talk to ya all soon.
