New Seasons Market

When New Seasons Market opened its first location 10 years ago in the Portland area, its goal was to create a neighborhood grocery store that embraced community, people and sustainability.

The brainchild of three families and a group of like-mined individuals, New Seasons Market has continued to grow while staying true to its local communities. In 2010, New Seasons Market will celebrate its 10th  year and fittingly, it will be opening its 10th store.

A big part of the company’s success has been its decision to offer Country Natural Beef.

“We’ve featured Country Natural Beef since the beginning,” says Alan Hummel, meat coordinator for New Seasons Market. “What that group of ranchers is doing fits right in with our goal to focus on regional sustainability. It is important for us to see the traditions of ranching and farming continue in our region, and Country Natural Beef is helping us achieve that goal.”

I don’t think there’s another beef supplier in the country like Country Natural Beef.

For New Seasons Market, local means fresh and fresh means flavor. The stores feature Country Natural Beef and even the beef for their grass-fed line is sourced from ranchers who are members of the Country Natural Beef cooperative.

“I don’t think there’s another beef supplier in the industry like Country Natural Beef,” says Hummel. “I’ve never met any other supplier with the same drive and passion and ongoing willingness to push the envelope. Like everyone at New Seasons Market, they never settle for the status quo.”
