Touted as Bend, Oregon’s specialty market, Newport Avenue Market has evolved from being just a grocery store to a local experience. The business was one of the first customers of Country Natural Beef and the small group of ranchers who founded the cooperative.

“We are approaching 20 years of selling this product and we don’t sell any other line of beef,” says Randy Yochum, meat department manager for Newport Avenue Market. “We have hung our hats on Country Natural Beef and have made it one of the flagship items sold in the store.”
It’s a personal relationship for the ranchers and everyone at Newport Avenue Market. Store owners Rudy and Debbie Dory have always been supportive of community-minded efforts and Country Natural Beef was an idea that they could get behind. Doc and Connie Hatfield opened a door, but the growing family of Country Natural Beef ranchers has continued to deliver on that same promise made almost 20 years ago.
“The ranchers come into the store, and we have maintained a very personal relationship over the years,” says Yochum.
“The fact that Country Natural Beef is raised naturally without any added hormones is really just a great sidebar to the story,” adds Yochum. “This is the best beef you’ll find. The fact that it is a naturally raised product is secondary to the great quality.”
